Is this camera really sealed ?

Yes. But the lens not.

Try blower in a clean room. And hold the camera towards the floor.

Yes, I have an annoying spot too that the shake won't remove. Luckily, Digital Image has an erase function where I can surround the little bugger and erase it. I constantly change lenses, so I guess that's what happens. I do turn the face of the camera down when changing in hopes of lessening the dust....

Aha Yvan, welcome to the club!
well, at least a club of two..
Just 2 weeks ago the same thing hapenned to me.
I have not removed my kit lens since putting it on the day I bought the camera, and suddenly, on a boat trip to the Greek islands, there's this spot!
I cleaned the outer lens as well as the protective sky filter, but nope, it was on the sensor. Shaking at startup switched on, but spot would not bug.

So the only other thing left to do was get my dust brush, twist off the lens, go to the menu to lock the mirror up, and softly softly brush the spot away. It wasn't easy, and took multiple openings and lens on-and-offs. Of course then there were some dust particles on the mirror, which is of no consequence to the final image, but still annoying through the viewfinder.

Recently it seems to be OK, but I do remember reading in some review that the dust shake mechanism is virtually inneffective. How the particle came to land on the sensor in the first place however I do not know..

Oh well, nothing is perfect.

Hi,

Humm very disappointed, I never change my lense nor leave my camera in a dust environment ! And the worst : the camera shake do nothing against this little enemy on my sensor ! Is this camera really sealed ?

Regards Yvan.

All I can say is this after my lunch with Pentax...Who ever said that Pentax was bound to use the same sensor as Nikon or Sony;)

Personally I'm hoping for a price drop on the D200 because of a D3. A new variant of the D200(D200s? D300?) will be nice as well, if/when that happens.

It seems that the "Rumors" about an 18.7 mega pixel Nikon with a 1.1 sensor seem to be known to the people at Pentax. When I brought up the new Nikon they weren't at all surprised and said "Yes, a 1.1 sensor of 18.7 mega pixels..."

Take it for what ever that is worth. The implications could be interesting.

Ben
