this could be highly interesting if the mount can be exchanged. 2nd
i have signals fromk kmz-zenit that there will be a digital horizon(rotating pancam). we will see if its a 360 or a swinglens((short rotation). with changing lens and 360-wow. i would only miss a 24mm shiftlens(135)if its 4/3 we would need a 12,13 or 14mm shiftlens( fx2) 24, 26(roundshot 65/70/220-rsp 65el) equivalent) or 28mm.
but stitching noshift and shiftshotshould be no problem i was told. i will try it out with my roundshot. rectiliniar superwideangle-shots-up to appr. 160 degr can easily be created. using panoramafactory or altostorm rectiliniar and other software.

40D, D3, D300, A700 are already shown, Olympus will announce E-3 on October, 17.

Yes years ago when I started buying Pentax they were a market leader. the Pentaprism, the rapid rewind lever, the instant return mirror, --- Pentax was out on front on these things. that was 40 years ago. in the last 20 years they have been behind the curve. Late to market with autofocus, late to market with digital SLR.

Now if they would deliver a 20 mp SLR body the same day their competitors did---that would be news. It's too late to announce it the same day as their competitors--- as it they have already announced.....

If Pentax want(s) to surprise everyone, they could deliver on their long-promised SDM lenses. They could actually bother to answer people like respected lens reviewer Klaus Schroiff when he sends a substandard optic back for adjustment and it comes back still soft. They could, in general, get their act together. Pentax make(s) the best product for the money in the DSLR market, with a few glitches which they seem unwilling or unable to fix, especially in the area of delivering on promised lenses. I’m waiting with bated breath (and bated checkbook, by the way) for some sign from Pentax that they’re committed to getting it right. Those who are paid cheerleaders, getting free equipment for boosting the Pentax brand, will no doubt have a different opinion.

There is something in the air. The rumors are running high. Will there be a Pentax Fall Surprise? The indications seem to reflect that there may be. From some of the posts I have read from credible sources and my own info it seems to lean in that direction. I could be wrong but there could be a major lens and body Blitzkrieg...

It's a bit offtopic here but the rumors floating around about Russian manual focus digital SLR Zenit N1 development (by the same company where widely known Zenitar 16mm fisheyes were built).

It will be "modular photographic system" capable of accepting wide range of SLR and RF lenses (using appropriate converters) and will be based on the 4/3 sensor with no LCD. External LCD could be attached to change rarely used settings on the go and shoot video (with the mirror locked up). Size of the body will be roughly the same as Pentax auto 110.

Zenit officials have told that the development process will take all the year 2007.

Personally I'm hoping for a price drop on the D200 because of a D3. A new variant of the D200(D200s? D300?) will be nice as well, if/when that happens.

It seems that the "Rumors" about an 18.7 mega pixel Nikon with a 1.1 sensor seem to be known to the people at Pentax. When I brought up the new Nikon they weren't at all surprised and said "Yes, a 1.1 sensor of 18.7 mega pixels..."

Take it for what ever that is worth. The implications could be interesting.
