I have the latest flash player. I can browse the galleries, but when I try to click on the "Community" link, it keeps redirecting me back to the same page.

Bugs, maybe?

Pentaxian.com website, as were promised, opens its doors today. But not for everybody.

You need the latest Flash Player version installed. And it seems that not all Flash Player 9.0 are equal. Version 9.0 r31 on my Ubuntu machine can't display this site. So be sure that the version of your Flash Player installation is 9.0.48.0 or higher.

Tallahassee Democrat reports about Mike Carlton who has spotted a rufous hummingbird, a bird not normally seen in that area.

When the hummer was still there the next day, Carlton - an accomplished amateur nature photographer ... - set up his Pentax K10D digital single-lens reflex camera on a tripod and took a series of portraits of the bird. He used a 300-mm lens and triggered the shutter with a wireless remote to capture clear and close-up photos of the bird's rusty-red plumage, beady black eyes, needle-like beak and white chest band.

So, Pentax is a large company with worldwide offices and Asia-wide manufacturing facilities, but they allow a small glitch like this to interfere with communications. It could be fixed easily but they don’t fix it. What does that tell you? Can you extrapolate from their unwillingness to fix this small problem to an unwillingness to fix other small problems?

They have headquarter in Japan. It's obvious to see financial data on the Japanese site.

Lack of contact form isn't the only usability flaw of the Pentax JP website. If you try to enter its address without www you'll get the "Server not found" error message.

OK, my mistake, I guess. I must have been confused by the fact that on the map for Pentax Global Sites -- http://www.pentax.co.jp/english/globalsites/ -- the link for Japan is shown as Pentax Corporation, whereas the others are shown as regional offices.

Well, actually Pentax haven't "global corporate site". There is sites of Pentax Europe, Pentax Imaging U.S., Pentax Canada, France etc. Most of them are having contact form. Pentax Japan not. I don't know why...

I haven’t found that to be the case very often, but without arguing the point in general it is true in specific that Canon, Nikon, Fuji and Sony global corporate sites all provide links for communication. Is this really an area where Pentax wants to be unique?

At the English version of Pentax’s corporate Web site, http://www.pentax.co.jp/english, there is a glaring (large type) error in very rudimentary English grammar. OK, that’s no big deal; after all, they are not native speakers (even though they should be able to afford a proofreader). I thought I’d just send a polite note so they could fix the error and save embarrassment. However, searching the site I found what in my opinion is a larger problem: no e-mail contact or feedback link of any kind. It’s as though they are saying, “Here’s what we have to tell you and, by the way, we aren’t the least bit interested in what you have to tell us.”
How about Canon? Go to their corporate site (http://www.canon.com/) and you see a feedback link (without having to hunt for it) with the message, “Your comments on this WEB service of Canon Inc., Tokyo, Japan are welcome here.” At the corporate site for Nikon the message is, “Sent [sic] your inquiries about website and your opinions to the following address. webmaster@nikon.co.jp” There’s more to building customer loyalty than turning out good products. Perhaps Pentax has something to learn from the competition in this area.

Hola a todos los Pentaxer@s. He abierto este portal para que todos disfrutemos un poco, ya que vais a tener acceso a galerías, foros, seccion de download con manuales, últimos firmwares, etc etc ...

Para los nuevos integrantes os quiero anunciar, que a los 50 primeros les haré el regalo de una galería personal de 100 Mb cada una para subir fotos ( todas de la temática y no para hacer hotlink). Podrán disfrutarla todos aquellos 50 primeros usuarios que se den de alta en el portal, pero para ello deben enviarme un correo con su usuario del portal, su nombre y ciudad de residencia ( por supuesto que estos datos son confidenciales). **Nota** las galerías se mantendran 4 meses y las cuentas de correo el mismo tiempo, con esto quiero decir que si se está mas de 4 meses sin acceder al portal, me veo obligado a cerrarlas, excepto en casos excepcionales, que debéis avisarme con algo de antelación. Cualquier sugerencia me la comentáis en mi correo.

No quiero centrar el foro solo a pentax, aunque claro está con el nombre del portal el punto de referencia es pentax, pero ante todo es un portal de fotografía.

PD: Necesito ayuda de colaboradores en el portal, ya que yo solo, estoy desbordado.

There is also another source for Pentax K10D guides. It is in my opinion, more practical, has color photos and is easier to read and understand. I purchased both.

This program does not exist yet...
I try to decode the lens file from photo browser... Cause my program generate a XMP file associate with the image file.
Simple logic :

1 - Read the exif tag from the image file.
2 - Translate the hexa code to lens string name.
3 - Generate a XMP file with the lens description.

Easy could not make simple...

Yes no LENS information in exif header... I know why it's not a Lightroom problem. Pentax did a change in the latest firmware the tag that containt the lens information upscale from 2 digits to 3 digits.
I almost resolve this problem with a small program

Sorry for my stupid question, but did you notice that the lens information for the 16-45 f4 is missing in the exif tag.
Or it's Adobe Lightroom fault ?
Any clue how to fix that ?
